Hello reader! Every Wednesday, I post the companion analysis from this week’s episode of Maria Luz’s Conscious Curiosities podcast. This week’s episode was 1/2 astrology info and 1/2 hypnotic track, so this post is brief.
The list is meant to help you use astrology as a means to understand yourself and perhaps those close to you, or to simply be more in tune with the energies that change as the planets change position relative to your birth chart. I will include all of the resources in the show notes.
Prerequisite: Your birth chart, downloaded from an astrology website or through an app. You will need your birth data, which includes your birth date, time, and location. If you do not have this, you can contact the department of vital records/statistics or the hospital where you were born as they may have this info.
Learn the archetypes for each of the 12 zodiac signs, including the planetary ruler of each sign, then adding in the house affiliation. This trinity will help you understand the energies at play when you start trying to understand your daily, weekly, or monthly horoscope. For deeper context on the archetypes, review the core Greek and Roman mythology of the Gods and Goddess (sadly, just one, Venus) which the planets are named after.
Download an app and check it daily (or at least weekly). Most have free versions that provide a daily personal horoscope. That daily horoscope is based upon the aspects that planets are making to your birth chart. Many have an option to learn about the influences on your horoscope, with typically the longer term influences drawn from the position of the outer (slower moving Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) planets, and the medium term from Mars and Venus, and near term Mercury, the Sun, and the Moon.
Pay attention to the sign the Moon is in, as it changes every 2.5 days. Journal about your energy and emotions, especially with respect to any routines you have. Once you have done this for a few months, you may notice patterns. Knowledge is power, so you can start to plan action oriented tasks with Moon signs where you know you tend to have more drive and do more self-care around those which may throw you off a bit. You can find the Moon sign in an app or one of the many astrology websites. You may notice significant differences according to which element the sign falls under (Fire, Water, Air, Earth).
Start watching or listening to an astrology podcast or two regularly.
Once you know your Big Three (Sun, Moon, and Rising sign), compare and contrast it with someone close to you. Marvel at how accurate astrology is!
You are now empowered to be consciously curious about practicing astrology in your own way!
