Fuel for the soul: Desires, resources, and the path between
An examination of right use of resources
Here is the voiceover for those who prefer it:
The image symbol which came in for the collective for the week of 4.28.25 follows:
A barrel of oil.
Right use of resources.
The deeper meaning of continuously transporting people and things.
This one surprised and stumped me a little, so I will pull in the Oracle Spread to get us started.
Oracle Card Spread for the Week
This week, I have been thinking about desire. It is a very human state. Without it, we are blobs, not much use to ourselves or others, content to drift through life letting others dictate our path. Yet when we are too attached to who and what we desire, suffering ensues. That suffering often looks like worrying about the future and what might happen if we no longer have the person or the thing. Or nostalgia or regret about a previous point in time when you had surplus or scarcity of people and things in your life.
There must be a sweet spot, a way to hold our desires just enough to fuel our most heartfelt intentions in life. In order to have a healthy relationship with our desires, we may need to ask ourselves some questions, beginning with “Why do I desire X or Y or Z?”. Hopefully, we can relate it to our deepest, most cherished intentions for our life. Perhaps they support our ability to work at being a compassionate person, for example. These cards seem to be asking us to explore our relationship to objects of desire and the path we take to feed it.
I employed a spread offered by Argus Kaldea in the Tarot & Astrology Handbook, which he calls the Conflicting Desires Spread.
Card 1 (left). Desire A: Magic. (#33 from Mystical Shaman Pocket Oracle, by Villoldo, Baron-Reid, and Lobos, illustrated by Jena DellaGrottaglia.)
This desire is about believing all of our dreams can come true and that all things are truly possible.
Card 2 (right). Desire B. V of Pentacles. (From Seventh Sphere Tarot by Labyrinthos Co).
This desire is for something outside of ourselves to raise us out of a challenging situation, or for something external to provide what we want or need, and feeling ashamed about our current spot.
Card 3 (center). Integrated Desires. Time. (#31 from Healing the Inner Child by Nina Mongendre, illustrated by EdieArt). From Kaldea: “This card indicates the force that must be applied in order to bring harmony and integration to your opposing desires.”
This card reminds us that the time between a desire being born and the fulfillment of that desire is not linear. That perhaps when it is a healthy desire, you feel gently but steadily pulled forward on a path. It may be more of a feeling of “this is right and good for me”, as opposed to a mathematical type formula you feed data into in order to yield an answer in a specific format.
The desire is both sustained and fed from within, yet in collaboration with the experiences you have when you are out in the world doing your thing. This is the co-creation with the Universe we hope to participate in.
The recent string of Pentacles suit tarot cards I have pulled for the collective have pushed us to examine our relationship with resources, the natural world, and what it is exactly we are manifesting. Perhaps that is the relationship to the image symbol of the barrel of oil. Ever efficient, spirit could be pointing to our actual use of fossil fuels and what we are using them to manifest, as well as to what actually fuels humanity in its highest and best expression.
Over the weekend, in a past life regression hypnosis session with a client, when we paused at the life between lives, her higher self and guides were encouraging her to go out and have adventures. They didn’t say “Get on a plane to New Zealand and go ziplining”. They said, “Go out your front door for a walk and take us with you. Adventure is everywhere!”
I love that idea.
Peace,
Maria Luz
I would love to hear if anything resonates with you this week!

All I can say is, “Yes, TIME!!!!!!!!”
Maria, also reflecting on the image of oil and what "oil" actually is (before we pull it out of the ground, put it in that barrel, and make it the object of our desire): It is the remains of ancient marine organisms produced over millions of years, through heat and pressure. Thank you for giving me something so richly provocative on this Monday morning!
