Memoir Part 3: Some things you just can’t outrun
The concept of home was difficult for me. My childhood homes were always chaotic and heavily uncertain. With mom’s naturally self-centered worldview triggered by depression and likely unaddressed trauma, and dad’s denial of pretty much everything following the tragedy of losing his first wife to what was likely severe postpartum depression when my older (half) brother was 6 months old, peace was just not a thing in our home.
