Hello reader! Every Friday, I post the notes from this week’s episode of my Friday Astro Energy Report on YouTube. I am releasing them a little early this week just for readers. Have a great weekend! Outline:
The main attraction is the New Moon in Cancer.
There are side attractions which emphasize a certain theme around nurturing, home, self-protection, mothering.
Cancer energy doesn’t have to be soft! There is a lot of cardinal energy here to get things moving.
A new moon occurs when the Sun and the Moon are at the same degree in the same sign. The Sun and Moon will be at 14° Cancer at 3:57 PM pacific time on July 5th. We know that if you want to work with moon energy, it can be a good time to set intentions for something you want to grow.
We know that Cancer energy is also about very Moon like things: nurturing, the act of mothering, self-healing, protectiveness.
The pertinent ancillary events I referred to are:
Mars in Taurus in a sextile aspect (energy = “oh hey, I didn’t see you at first, but let’s help each other out”) to Saturn in Pisces.
Venus in Cancer squares (energy = ‘oh hey, I didn’t see you. Geez I wasn’t expecting this from you… how can we compromise or agree to disagree”) Chiron in Aries.
Sun in Cancer opposes (energy = face-off) Ceres in Capricorn.
Let’s say you set a Cancer/Moon themed intention around your home, or to self-nurture. The prominent themes to consider around your intention may involve:
Cancer does not equal soft. Give the intention direction and action (Mars, Aries) and inject some realism (Saturn, Capricorn).
Make sure that active energy is healing to yourself. Mars can be destructive energy, and remember that Venus in Cancer will attract people who need nurturing (actual babies, fine. grown ass babies, not so much). Abandoning yourself for them can be destructive and irresponsible. This is just like salt in the Chiron in Aries self-worth wound!
Do you equate nurturing with mothering? Be aware that the concept of mothering has been softened/disempowered by those with a certain agenda. In nature, mothers are anything but soft. Nurturing can mean life or death, and mothers often must self-nurture. (Fun fact: Some of our herbal medicines came from observing animals in nature just after childbirth to see which plants they eat or simply chew and then lick themselves to promote healing.)
Maybe think about your home space. Do you need new ‘home rules’ to make sure people behave respectfully to you? What do you value about your home and could you take some action to show it some nurturing in return for keeping you safe? How does your home space reflect your values and authentic self?
