The idea of taking a break for the next week or so has me torn. I can say honestly it is not FOMO or a sense of obligation to my readers. It is because I feel so joyful doing this work. I feel fortunate and energized every time I sit down to write about a symbol from spirit, or to record an audio post about my attempts to live fully without alcohol or any other crutches (except work, maybe?).
I do feel the nudge to take some time off to journal extensively, and watch the industrious bees, chaotic flies, gentle ladybeetles, elegant dragonflies, and iridescent hummingbirds in my backyard rather than produce coherent writing. So, off I go into my little piece of wild here, before I head to Boone, North Carolina on Wednesday to learn about plant teachers and animal medicines from my herbalism teacher, Matthew Wood.
I am not on other social media, and I an not a heavy Notes user, except to restack my pieces and others, and to post the tarot haiku (see today’s below) that willfully and joyfully wants to be put out each morning, so instead of posting Notes during my time off, I may just collect some pics and snatch some entries from my journal to share in a post upon my return.

Here are a few snaps from my backyard this morning. It’s messy because I am a new gardener and make lots of mistakes. The plants have been very patient teachers, and I look forward to learning more from them this week in the Appalachian Mountains.

In case you want to read a bit more:
The plants rule summer! Gardens should be messy, invites pollinators. Enjoy your plant time and your herbal conference. I have several of Matthew's books and enjoyed a workshop with him many years ago.
Your yard is gorgeous! Have a great time off!
