As always, take what resonates and leave the rest.
I suspect that in many environments, once you learn all the implicit and explicit rigid rules by heart, you are rewarded, and you may even receive the moniker “expert”.
Despite the way corporations say they prize flexibility and adaptability, they only want that from you when they reorg or give you five other people’s tasks after a reduction in force.
It has taken me a while to sort out the spectrum of rigid-flexible, and my current thinking is that the opposite of rigidity is creativity, not flexibility. I advocate for escaping the rigid-flexible axis altogether where it makes sense, and living creatively before you are forced to.
I would love to hear your experience as it relates to this concept.
In person opportunity tomorrow!
Stop by West Coast Willow Apothecary in Seattle between 11 and 4 to say hi, purchase some herbs or herbal products, and have a session with me. There is usually some delicious tea brewing, too.
