Weekly Astrology: Full Moon in Taurus; key aspects between Venus & Chiron, Mars & Uranus
The healing power of seeing yourself fully
“This world is illusion only to the individual who cannot see through its phenomena and fails to apprehend the reality these phenomena reveal even as they conceal it.”
~ Dane Rudhyar, An Astrological Mandala: The Cycle of Transformation and Its 360 Degree Symbolic Phases
The Full Moon phase often reveals something more fully, in more detail than the conscious mind has seen previously. For that reason, it can cause you to have to reframe your perspective of self and other, as you (hopefully) work to integrate the newly visible details.
Venus, representing relationships and values (including self-worth) and at home in the sign of Libra, makes a full phase (opposition) aspect to asteroid Chiron in Aries on November 1st, just a few days before the Full Moon that she oversees as ruler of Taurus. Chiron represents the core wound we carry, that can eat us from the inside out via unconscious beliefs that sabotage us throughout life. When we start to objectively inventory the beliefs which make up our identity in order to account for conditioning or fear-based beliefs versus our natural sense of self, the work begins in earnest.
As we tackle this work, we begin to experience a freedom we may never have felt before. And with that freedom comes a responsibility to let others know that this is who we are, who we have always been. Even short of a grand proclamation to your family, friends, and colleagues, showing up in ways that you previously have not will be threatening to some. Others simply may not be ready to see you in such fullness.
Venus and Chiron remind us that this is difficult work, and in the context of the Full Moon a few days later, that it is work that is critical to our deep connection with others (Scorpio) and long term personal security (Taurus).
The Moon in this Full Moon chart speaks to the way attunement happens naturally through proximity. The Sabian Symbol describes children playing near the seashore, while shellfish do their own thing nearby. When we spend time outdoors, we attune to the energy of the natural landscape. When we spend time on social media, well, we attune to that energy. This happens naturally and subconsciously. The Sabian Symbol for the Sun speaks to intentional connection for the purpose of communication, which reminds us that the lines of communication we travel define who we are able to connect with. Technology has largely pushed this to our subconscious, as well.
Uranus often brings a flash of undeniable reality, wanted or unwanted, as anyone who has passed their Uranus opposition at age 42 and/or Uranus return at age 84 will be able to tell you! The Sabian Symbol on which Uranus has paused, a glass-bottomed boat, reveals to us what has always been present beneath our subconscious and unconscious (the sea). Sitting in opposition to Uranus at this Full Moon is Mars, at the beginning of Sagittarius, on a Sabian Symbol which speaks of old military colleagues bonding over their shared stories. The symbols raise the question of which is more important - the reality which our senses take in or our shared story of reality? What are we failing to see when we refuse to look beyond the familiar stories, and how might that complacency pin our identity one-dimensionally (e.g., as the military veterans in the symbol)?
Relevant Sabian Symbols1 for the week
These symbols help me flesh out the themes of the lunation of the week in the context of the larger astrological themes at play. The below mirror and/or enhance many of the themes of Pluto just beginning its tour through Aquarius and Uranus and Sedna just beginning their tours through Gemini, as well as Saturn and Neptune finishing up their tours in Pisces. We are meant to be asking ourselves meaningful questions, thinking about how adaptation at the individual and group level affects the future state of all that exists.

Excerpts from An Astrological Mandala: The Cycle of Transformations and Its 360 Symbolic Phrases by Dane Rudhyar

I value your reminder of how important it is to attuned to nature, Maria. Even as the temperature falls, I have to get out to the woods. The trees. Your point about Uranus return is intriguing. My mum is 84. Thanks for this!
A powerful essay. Seeing ourselves is sometimes like cleaning and reorganizing a closet full of clothing: we look at some items and wonder what we were thinking, we hold on to no longer worn clothes because they represent part of who we are, and other items seem ok but not quite right. Then there's that one item or several that fit who and where we are at the time.
We just need to the courage to wear those items regularly.
