A powerful essay. Seeing ourselves is sometimes like cleaning and reorganizing a closet full of clothing: we look at some items and wonder what we were thinking, we hold on to no longer worn clothes because they represent part of who we are, and other items seem ok but not quite right. Then there's that one item or several that fit who and where we are at the time.
We just need to the courage to wear those items regularly.
On a superficial level, it is easier to just don a uniform every day! That may be great for children attending school, who need to be rushed out the door by 6:45 am, but not so great when trying to find and inhabit the truest expression of self.
