Energy drivers:
Full Moon in Aquarius (8.19)
Jupiter in Gemini squares Saturn in Pisces (8.19)
Venus in Virgo squares Jupiter in Gemini and opposed Saturn in Pisces (8.19)
Retrograde -palooza: Mercury, Chiron, Saturn, Neptune, Pluto, Uranus will join on 9.1
I have to say, most astrologers will be keeping it really mellow on August 19th because there will be a lot of big energy.
For me, full Moons focus on polarities, reaping what we have sown (intentionally or not), and visibility. Uranus, the ruler of this full Moon, will be in a square with the Moon and a sextile with the Sun. This points to acknowledging gaps (a square) that are exposed, and without assigning blame, taking action (fire sign Leo in the mix) to fix things. With the Sun conjunct to asteroid Vesta and Mercury in Leo, there is attention to our commitment to self-leadership, especially with our life’s work or what we place our daily energy into. Think of Vesta as representing the everlasting flame in the hearth in Roman times.
If you know your Greco-Roman mythology, you will recall that Saturn ate his children because of a prophecy that one of his own children would be the result of his downfall. And that Jupiter was the child who Saturn thought he ate, but his mother Rhea really hid and fed Saturn a rock instead. Jupiter then freed his siblings and they overthrew Saturn and his cronies to become the Olympians and new rulers of the Universe.
So, the mythology sets us up for a popcorn summer blockbuster situation, right? And wait, there’s more! Jupiter’s son Mars is standing by just a few degrees away in Gemini. Venus, which normally is heads down in the sign of Virgo, is making a bold stand, in a square to Jupiter and in opposition to Saturn. Mercury has retrograded back into Leo, and sits as the ruler of the signs of Venus, Mars, and Jupiter. What does all of this jumble mean? Well, I may have more questions than answers, but I think they are good ones to ask!
Remember, Mercury is comfortable with holding dual truths, but will that, plus a Moon that is in the cooler sign of Aquarius be enough to calm down the multiple conflicts? And can we even sort out what the conflicts are about? I think this energy may foreshadow the next 20 years or so, when the individuals of the Pluto in Leo generation experience their Pluto oppositions.
Things were simpler and more straightforward when this generation (1937 - 1957) was born. As we know, some have a nostalgia that borders on derangement and can be downright deadly (e.g. the 1/6/2021 storming of the U.S. Capitol in an effort to ‘make America great again’). Are they going to be able to accept multiple truths (aka diversity) as represented by Jupiter in Gemini and acknowledge the arbitrary and artificial cutoff to who is considered an immigrant (Saturn in Pisces speaks to hard to define borders, Venus in Virgo points to acknowledging just who does the daily work and service jobs these days)?
Is Mercury in Leo meant to highlight the entitlement side of that sign as an ask to look at individuals from this generation who lead in a more humble manner?
This confusing mass of energy has as a backdrop the overarching Aries (self) - Libra (others) axis we have been working on since July 2023 when the nodes of the moon moved into those signs, and our intrinsic wounding that Chiron in Aries has been challenging us to deal with since 2018.
With many of the planets in retrograde motion, we certainly have the energy to continue our RE-work: review, reassess, revisit key decisions, re-do if that is possible.
