Relative truths, absolute sounds: A Jupiterian tale
Finding balance between what we seek and emotional harmony
The image symbol transmitted to me for the week of 6.2.25:
A violin.
Like a violin, we are constructed for multitudes of emotions to flow through us, creating harmony as they are exquisitely felt and expressed.
Cards for the Week

I employed another spread from 111 Oracle Spreads for Every Day by Krystal Banner. It is called the Yin-Yang spread.
Card 1: What area of life is out of balance? #13 The Crow (reversed).
This card raises a question along the lines of: have we settled for relative truth over absolute truth? This feels like a fitting question to ask as Jupiter, which has been known to spin a yarn or two for effect, moves out of the chatty sign of Gemini and into Cancer, the sign ruled by the Moon. Perhaps the crows are coming home to roost and we see where we have sacrificed facts for entertainment, and right actions for unquestioned beliefs.
There is some grief over what was lost when we were busy talking at one another, and maybe it’s time to lean into that grief and feel it.
Card 2: What will help restore balance and harmony? #42 The Rainmaker.
This card reminds us that we have a role in co-creation with the Universe. When we nurture the seeds within us rather than seeking something already fully grown outside of us, we become capable of holding that which our heart wishes to manifest, and the external reality catches up with us rather than us chasing what we cannot yet responsibly hold.
And now for the Jupiterean tale…
In case you aren’t familiar with the Roman god Jupiter, he is the same as the Greek god Zeus, full of swagger and known for going big and allowing things to get a bit out of control. In astrology, it is much the same, although Jupiter is also said to bring luck. In my birth chart, Jupiter is on the exact degree of my Ascendant, the angle of the chart which shows how you entered the world and will enter every new space in your life thereafter, so I am very familiar with Jupiter’s energy.
Anyone with strong Sagittarius will understand this energy, too, as Jupiter is the ruler of that mutable fire sign, the ninth of the zodiac. This energy can set you up to stretch the truth in a sense, because extreme optimism can indeed be impossible, and therefore unfounded in truth.
I will illustrate this point with an embarrassing tale from when I used to get extremely drunk regularly. I was in Florence, Italy for an optional program in graduate school (lucky Jupiter had landed me an employer who paid for it) at a mega nightclub with karaoke on one floor. I had wandered off on my own that night, so I can’t even blame my fellow students for egging me on. Note that Jupiter also has a direct line to my Sun, and when combined with alcohol acted as an internal cheerleader for all kinds of bullshit, including making me decide to sing a Mariah Carey song that night. I mean, I could see alcohol alone maybe making me sing karaoke, but Mariah effing Carey, of the jumping octaves and singing bordering on rapping lyrics? No. That required a strong Jupiter.
When questioned by the karaoke person whether I was sure I could handle “Always Be My Baby”, I answered enthusiastically, “Si. Certo!”. I didn’t think I was lying, “handle” after all, is relative. My drunken caterwaul was a real earbleeder, and told the absolute truth to my relative one, though!
Which brings me to the image symbol which came through. There was a message that I am having a hard time putting into words, but it involves practice, slowly becoming capable of more exquisite sounds, and a resonance that forever remains in the instrument. Maybe: The sound emanating from the instrument always shares the truth of the cumulative experience.
I am not exactly saying we have all been out there caterwauling while believing we sound like Mariah Carey, but maybe some version of that having to do with emotional capabilities rather than vocal. For example, thinking that getting something off our chest by shooting off an email or social media post is the same as emotionally processing a difficult feeling. Or thinking that playing Wordle for 10 minutes as nervous system regulation is all the self-care we need. Both examples are not untrue, but neither is fully true.
I’d love to hear if anything resonates, or any tall tales of truth stretching you’d like to share!
Select astrology for the week: Mercury and Jupiter in a conjunction on June 8th
Mercury is zipping through the signs these days, but this conjunction meshes with the Full Moon on June 11th just a few days later.
Themes of what information to consume and to share, deciding which interesting thread to follow and which to leave by the wayside, or whether to continue with many threads to leave your options open may arise. Remember, Jupiter can be a bit reckless, and Mercury can trick you into confusing the forest in the distance and the tree in front of you, so be conscious about how you are perceiving and be intentional with how you are processing information.

Thanks for sharing your story. There’s a disastrous karaoke scene in my novel in which Jessica, the main character, is manic and attempts to sing Whitney Houston. She is pulled offstage but is convinced she gave a Grammy-worthy performance!
There is so much I love in this article! The violin, the Crow, the karaoke---so hilarious and yet so relatable. Honestly, I'm not sure which of my own "karaoke moments" I can bear to share.
I'm thinking of my grandson, who I will be seeing today. He's only 1.5 years old but such an exuberant Sagittarius sun, full of smiles and enthusiasm, and he never walked but ran from the start. Nothing deters him: uneven ground, repeated tumbles, insurmountable obstacles. He just gets back up, dusts himself off, laughs, and launches himself again. As a careful, cautious Capricorn sun, I am in awe. A little voice in the back of my mind whispers: "Imagine what you could have done with confidence like that!" 😂
